Graduate Process Engineer

 Position Summary

We are interested to hear from Graduate Process Engineers recently graduated/graduating in 2018, who would be willing to work initially for 3 months on a fixed term contract with the possibility of an extension or conversion to a permanent position for the right candidate. The role is primarily office based but may require travelling to client sites as required on occasion.

BPE will utilise client and project specific opportunities as they arise to best ensure that successful candidates gains maximum development and learning experience. The work will involve providing support to senior engineers in the development of design documentation, typically 2D-CAD of PFDs and P&IDs, generating equipment datasheets and specifications, HAZOP Scribe and capacity calculations.

The nature of the work will depend on BPE’s project portfolio at the time, but BPE aim to give varied and challenging work that will expose the successful candidate to a range of engineering and management activities, industrial sectors and technologies.

Skills and Experience Required

The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate;

  • A good understanding of chemical engineering principles and their application to industrial processes
  • An ability to solve problems and produce practical, cost effective solutions
  • Effective professional communication both written and verbal, and to present BPE in a favourable light to its clients.
  • Good interpersonal skills that promote effective team working.
  • Candidates who have graduated in 2018 with a minimum Grade 2:1 in Chemical Engineering.
  • A good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite primarily Word and Excel is required. Experience of AutoCAD and ASPEN One would be an advantage.

Undergraduate Industrial Placements

BPE are keen to support undergraduate Chemical Engineers and run a Summer Placement programme offering a 2nd or 3rd year Chemical Engineering Undergraduate eight weeks work experience during July and August. Based at our Colden Common office, the placement typically includes some CAD, process modelling and HAZOP scribe experience, and site and sales visits where possible although the nature of the work very much depends on our project and client portfolio at the time.  Applications for Summer 2018 are now closed.

At present we are not able to offer 12-month industrial placements.
